Scott Warren, an activist with the charity No More Deaths, was recently arrested for harboring two illegal immigrants in his home to “shield” them from law enforcement. Warren has also stashed supplies for illegal immigrants crossing the border. Warren faces three felony counts for transporting, harboring and hiding the illegal immigrants and if found guilty of all three, he could face 20 years in prison.
The United Nations is pleading with Arizona to drop all charges against Warren claiming, “Providing humanitarian aid is not a crime.”
There are two major problems with this. The first is, that what Warren did was in fact a crime. Warren went above and beyond “humanitarian aid” when he hid two illegal immigrants in his house as part of a larger “underground railroad.” Furthermore, stashing supplies for illegal immigrants not only leads to more illegal immigrants coming to the U.S., it gives border jumpers a false sense of security.
The second problem is that the U.N believes they have the authority to tell a sovereign nation how its own laws should work. This isn’t the first time the U.N has tried to interfere with laws in the United States. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be the last either.
The U.N supports mass migration as clearly demonstrated in the letter they sent to Arizona:
“The vital and legitimate humanitarian work of Scott Warren and No More Deaths upholds the right to life and prevents the deaths of migrants and asylum seekers at the U.S.- Mexican border.”
What the U.N doesn’t realize is that legitimate migrants and legitimate asylum seekers go through the processes set forth by U.S law. Legitimate people do not cross a border illegally.
Liberals don’t seem to get the message that controlling migration is done at least partly for safety. Americans feel safer when they know immigrants have been vetted to weed out criminals. Immigrants feel safer when they don’t have to brave 115 degree temperatures and no water, as they illegally cross endless miles of barren desert.
While immigrants may have a right to life, sovereign nations also have a right to make and enforce their own laws and to define borders. This demand from the U.N is an attempt to shift American immigration law to a more open style such as countries in the EU employ.
This whole problem started when 3,000 bodies were found along the border. People on both sides want to stop these illegal immigrants from dying. However, there is only one way that will stop people from dying that will allow us to maintain our sovereignty. Secure the border and build a wall, it is as simple as that.
