Recently, aboard the USS Wasp, sailors were seen wearing patches that, according to Military.com, feature “an image of President Donald Trump and a riff on his ‘Make America Great Again’ campaign slogan.” Now, they might be in trouble for it.
Pictures of the patches, which proudly proclaim “Make Aircrew Great Again,” sparked an incredible amount of outrage on twitter with some calling the patches “creeping authoritarianism,” and of course comparing them to the Nazis “This is Fascism and a clear violation of the UCMJ. Do they have armbands, too? Who ordered this?”
The photos which caused all the outrage were taken during a Memorial Day celebration aboard the USS Wasp that the President was attending in Yoksuka, Japan.

However, this is all about two years too late. These unofficial unit patches were commissioned and paid for by the troops themselves and are common. Almost every unit in the military makes their own unit deployment patches. Furthermore, these patches were, most likely, cleared by the commanders of the unit.
The real reason the media is having a meltdown has nothing to do with the patches at all. They’re angry because it shows clear evidence that people really do like President Trump, despite the media’s best smear attempts. If these patches had said “Yes We Can,” there would be no issue.
Our troops love their president and they have clearly shown that over the course of his term. President Donald Trump has made it clear, that under his administration the military will be treated with the dignity and honor it deserves. That goes a very long way for the men and women serving in the U.S military and they know how to show their appreciation.
Make no mistake, these kinds of stories will continue to make headlines, as long as President Trump — or anyone who respects the military for that matter– is president. The last time we saw this kind of uproar was when President Trump was visiting troops in Germany and signing their MAGA hats.
The Media hates both the President and the military and will do or say anything to bring them down. However, as we have seen in the past, the media’s attempts to destroy both the President and the military only make them stronger.
