On Saturday Vice President Mike Pence stood his ground as he refused to exit the Capitol building through a side entrance. He faced a pack of angry protesters shouting “Shame! Shame! Shame!” This came following the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Pence had appeared to be in total control of the gavel as the vote went on and protestors in the gallery spewed their hate and then were removed by the Sergeant-at-Arms on Pence’s request.

A large crowd of demonstrators across the plaza amplified their vocalizing as the doors opened to reveal the vice president.

Pence was exiting toward the Senate steps with his security detail when he appeared to pause.

Jim Morehand, Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms, had given Pence the option that he could exit through the ‘Carriage Entrance’ if he preferred.

Pence seemed to turn and his security detail quickly radioed the new exit. Then he quickly stopped and spun around.

He said,  “Let’s do it.”

The doors to where the protesters were opened and a unwavering Pence walked toward his motorcade. He waved along the way.

Pence had the tone of a well disciplined and strong minded man.

Kavanaugh was confirmed along party lines in a 50-48 vote. This was the closest successful confirmation vote in over 100 years.

Pence said in a statement that Kavanaugh’s confirmation marked another success for the Trump administration.

Pence said, “In nominating Judge Kavanaugh, President Trump kept his word to the American people to appoint judges who will interpret the Constitution as written and uphold the God-given liberties enshrined there.”

He tweeted:

It is not hidden that I love our president. I knew I liked the vice president but I never felt the pride and respect for the man as I do now.

Mr. Vice President, you don’t look for the easy way out. You face obstruction head on. Bravo!
