VOTING FOR MY JOB
By- Angel Johnson
As all the controversy swirls this election year and citizens of this fine nation ponder who is most qualified and fit to lead our nation back to prosperity, the answer is definitely Donald Trump.
The reason is actually quite simple. Jobs! Without jobs their true freedom is unattainable. Sure we can live off of Social Security, welfare, or food stamps for a while but these social programs are not freedom. Social programs are designed to assist with basic needs only. The United States has been a leader in the world for decades. To settle for fulfilling simply basic needs is counterproductive to the foundation of the United States.
How does Donald Trump get us jobs versus Hillary? That answer is quite simple as well. Stop unfair trade. Ross Perot quoted in 1992 with NAFTA “there will be a giant sucking sound going south’. Turns out Mr. Perot was correct.
The TPP alone will be the final nail in the coffin to vital industries such as textile, steel production, auto manufacturing, and companies that rely on military contracts such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing. The TPP will all but get rid of the “Buy American Clause” for our government.
The importance of TPP for Hillary is that she needs to make good on deals to foreign leaders that provided funds to her fancy foundation. Take for instance that Hillary’s foundation was given $5,000,000 from Lakshmi Mittal, owner of Arcelor Mittal a major steel company and board member of Goldman Sachs. In 2008 Lakshmi built a facility in Kazakhstan that produces steel tubing and piping for the energy industry. A few years later the US Steel Industry began to really feel the effects of unfair trade. Massive layoffs and plant closures ensued and have yet to recover. Was this by coincidence? Absolutely not. Hillary had a favor to pay back to Lakshmi and could careless about the American worker.
Oddly enough the United Auto Workers and United Steelworkers unions have backed Hillary simply because for one week to get their endorsement Hillary said she was anti TPP yet claimed publicly 45 times prior that she was pro TPP as well as stated the TPP was the “Gold Standard” of trade deals. The unions are doing what they have always done by staying true to their DFL values however this time if Hillary wins it will come back to bite them.
Donald Trump called out Hillary on her TPP stance during the debate and Hillary really didn’t have an argument all while scoffing at him and the American worker. TPP will no doubt create unnecessary turmoil for US Manufacturing.
Donald Trump also talks about a strong military. A strong military not only keeps us secure but keeps us working. Without the TPP the “Buy American Clause” will be honored and our resources will be tapped. It is a win win.
Let’s not forget Hillary and Obama’s war on coal. Mining companies in the US involve good paying careers that employ skilled workers such as Electricians, Welders, and Equipment Operators as well as professional staff of Accountants, Engineers and Attorneys to name a few. 70 percent of finished steel consist of coal. So a war on coal is also a war on steel.
Building the wall keeps Americans working. Just in goods and services alone needed to build the wall but the effect of minimizing foreign workers that are illegally crossing our borders and stealing our jobs will be paramount to a successful nation.
When people are working and providing for their family is truly when a nation prospers. Ultimately it all comes down to the simplicity of voting for our jobs.
