After a comprehensive tour of a controversial border detention facility, Vice President Mike Pence has made a rare public statement defending our Border Patrol officers and slamming the outright lies coming from the left-leaning media, especially CNN. The networks are only showing the public half of the story, the things that paint the Donald Trump administration in a bad light. Pence called them out over the misdirection in a big way.

While visiting the McAllen, Texas Detention Center with a group of reporters on Friday, Pence ripped into what he called CNN’s “dishonest” coverage of the immigration crisis at the border.

The Vice President tweeted, “CNN is so dishonest. Today we took reporters to a detention facility on the border for families and children and all told us they were being treated well.” No complaints, no torture, no dehumanization. That’s a lot different from the horror stories you hear day in and day out from the fake news media.

Everyone knows the grandstanding that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York has been doing in the media lately, with her “squad” of freshmen Democrat demons. El Paso, Texas, Democrat Rep. Veronica Escobar has also been the subject of controversy recently. She allegedly sent staffers across the border to instruct asylum seekers how to get around the remain in Mexico policy.

CNN Pence explained, is not giving the American public the full story.

“Rather than broadcast the full story, showing the compassionate care the American people are providing to vulnerable families, tonight CNN only played video of men in the temporary facility and didn’t play any footage of the family facility at all… ignoring the excellent care being provided to families and children. Our great @CBP agents deserve better and the American people deserve the whole story from CNN!”

CNN has had a rather tumultuous relationship with the Trump administration, exemplified by the daily confrontations between former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and liberal CNN reporter Jim Acosta. Several of the network’s anchors, such as Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer and Chris Cuomo, have also been routinely critical of the administration and rejected President Trump’s warning that there was a crisis at the border.

“You can use a physical barrier. But why say it’s a cure all to keep back this demonized group of people, like this marauding horde that doesn’t exist. [Trump] created all of this. It’s all bogus.” Chris Cuomo said on January 11.

“President Trump will speak tonight from the Oval Office, trying to sell his border wall to a doubtful nation, as his administration uses falsehoods and misstatements to build the case for what it calls a crisis on the border,” Wolf Blitzer said on January 8.

“Now it’s not our job to advocate for or against a given policy,” Anderson Cooper also said on January 8. “It’s our job to call out the dishonest pursuit of it. So, as we wait for the president to speak about what he calls a crisis on the border, we’re starting with the crisis of credibility he created for himself.”

Anderson Cooper is right, it’s not the media’s job to advocate for or against a given policy. But with it’s highly biased coverage of the crisis on the southern border, that has been in effect what they have been doing. It’s also the reason that viewers that are more conservative have to turning to networks such as Fox News and One America News for a more balanced reporting of the border crisis.

When the American people cannot trust the media to report fairly and honestly, it is a serious situation for the country as a whole.
