The Democrats vying to challenge President Donald Trump as their party’s nominee in the general election took to the debate stage again last night. For the third time, America heard arguments and bickering on liberal hot button topics from healthcare to gun control.
One topic was notably missing from last night’s debate, abortion. That would be because it’s understood that every Democrat candidate for President considers abortion a sacrament. Any deviation from the pro-abortion on demand position is met with swift ridicule and marginalization by the radical left.
Instead of the expected ideological battle between the three front-runners, Biden, Warren, and Sanders, the night turned into an intense and heated fight among the candidates. Three of the “also rans,” Buttigieg, Castro, and O’Rourke, hijacked the spotlight.
There was one especially furious exchange between Joe Biden and self-described socialist Bernie Sanders over the Senator’s “Medicare-for-All” plan. “If you notice, nobody’s yet said how much this is going to cost,” Biden pointed out.
The former Vice President scored major points with his attack on Senator Sanders’ plan. “You have my friend from Vermont saying that the employer will give that money back to the employee.” He really landed a jab when he glanced at Bernie and quipped, “let me tell you something, for a socialist, you’ve got a lot more confidence in corporate America than I do.”
Biden’s plan would expand Barack Obama’s disastrous Affordable Care Act instead. It’s interesting to see a group of socialists and big government liberals argue and fight over who can better take over our healthcare decisions.
The escalating exchange led to former HUD Secretary Julian Castro attacking Joe Biden’s age, asking, “are you already forgetting what you said two minutes ago? I mean, I can’t believe that you said two minutes ago that they had to buy in, and now you’re saying that don’t have to buy in. You’re forgetting that.”
Beto O’Rourke made a memorable remark on the topic of gun control. Referring to his mandatory gun buyback plan, he said, “hell yes, we are going to take your AR-15.” At least we know where he stands.
One Republican Texas lawmaker, Briscoe Cain, tweeted in response, “my AR is ready for you Robert Francis.” One comment noted, “down in Texas, politics is a contact sport.”
The debate, which was held at Texas Southern University in Houston, also had its share of protestors. Even liberals aren’t safe from liberal protesters. Open borders advocates Interrupted Joe Biden’s final question, illegibly chanting, “we are DACA recipients, our lives are at risk.” Their shirts read: “Defend DACA. Abolish ICE. Citizenship for All.”
The hope was that the debate would help winnow out the field, and continue to weed out the weaker candidates, but no candidate seems to be coming out with a clear advantage in the immediate aftermath. We’ll see in the coming days if the polls show a certain candidate getting a bump. One thing is sure, last night’s debate went a long way toward cementing President Donald Trump’s chances of re-election.
