The Trump Administration infuriated liberal abortion supporters by implementing new restrictions on Monday. Pro-Lifers and conservative Christians are thrilled.
One organization representing the clinics complained loudly about the administration’s Pro-life “ideological agenda.” They’re upset that from now on, all family planning clinics that get taxpayer funding “must stop referring women for abortions.”
The Department of Health and Human Services has formally notified the clinics that it will start enforcing the ban on abortion referrals immediately.
Another restriction that will now be rigorously enforced, is a requirement that family planning clinics must be totally separate from performing the abortions and must keep bank accounts for each service. Starting next year, the two types of facilities cannot be under the same roof.
These new restrictions were prompted, at least in part, by the controversial film “Unplanned,” based on the autobiography of Abby Johnson. The former Bryan, Texas Planned Parenthood director resigned and converted to the Pro-Life cause after witnessing an abortion procedure performed in the clinic
Planned Parenthood continues to insist that no federal funds received by the organization are used to fund abortion services.
They are one of the organizations complaining the most about the new restrictions. The new regulations paint a huge bullseye on Planned Parenthood. They have threatened to quit the federally funded family planning program over the issue.
Go ahead Planned Parenthood, be our guest.
Pro-life activists have welcomed the new regulations. “Ending the connection between abortion and family planning is a victory for common sense health care,” proclaims Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life.
The 1973 Supreme Court decision “Roe vs. Wade” legalized abortions in all 50 states, but the Hyde Amendment, passed in 1976, prohibits federal funds from being used to pay for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is in jeopardy. It simply hasn’t been enforced and now it will.

Abortion is a hot and controversial topic and one sure to stir up emotions on both sides. Federal funds should never be used to fund abortions, a procedure that many consider immoral and taking human life. Christians note that science backs them up on the view, pointing to the fact the fetus is a human life, and since it is a human life, law should protect that life even before birth.
