The Department of Justice recently sided with the President on an upcoming battle before the Supreme Court, calling Barack Obama’s original executive order “legally questionable.”
Obama’s order set up the DACA program, but it is separate, in and of itself, from the program. Liberals are being disingenuous in saying that President Donald Trump’s action ended the DACA, it didn’t.
In September of 2017, Donald Trump repealed an Obama era executive order establishing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, commonly referred to as DACA. It granted illegal immigrants under the age of 16, who came to the country with their parents, the right to apply for legal protections from deportation.
It also provided for the right to work and study in the United States. Most have heard the term dreamer, which refers to these individuals.
Even though Obama’s order was never meant to be a permanent solution, liberals immediately attacked President Trump as being heartless toward immigrants for ending the program — as they saw it. The President’s action didn’t end the program, it kicked the ball to Congress. They need to come up with a solution to the issue.
Several subsequent Appellate and even Supreme Court rulings have allowed DACA to continue temporarily. Congress has failed to pass any legislation spelling out a more permanent solution to the crisis. Instead, Democrats are holding DACA recipients hostage, to gain leverage in budget debates with the President. Democrats even forced a government shutdown in one instance.
Progressives like to talk a big game about how they’re the party that protects the interests of minorities, but in reality they use undocumented migrants and their children as political pawns. Their real motivation is to hammer Republicans and President Trump as heartless and racist.

The President offered at one point to restore, temporarily, DACA protections for certain individuals in exchange for Democratic support for border security funding, the Democrats refused and instead shut down the Government.
President Trump has described DACA recipients as “Good, educated, and accomplished young people.” Does that sound like a racist? The ball is in Congress’s court, as it should be.
