President Donald Trump asked the Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday to issue a notice to San Francisco over their homelessness and accompanying pollution problem.
“They’re in serious violation,” Trump told reporters. “They have to clean it up. We can’t have our cities going to hell.” Since California loves making regulations, it’s time they started following them. The issue is clearly an environmental one because of the “tremendous pollution.”
Just one example is that there are so many discarded syringes left laying around by homeless addicts, that they’re “flowing into the Pacific Ocean from Bay Area cities.”
Then there is the obvious sanitation problem of everyone using the streets of San Fransisco as a toilet. These are exactly the reasons why we have environmental regulations, to protect the public health. While lawful American citizens are forced to put up with these filthy conditions, California bends over backwards to provide shelter, food, clothing, and medical care to each and every illegal alien they can entice into the state.
U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson denied a request from several California officials asking for more money. Nope, sorry. “Your letter seeks federal dollars for California from hardworking American taxpayers but fails to admit that your state and local policies have played a major role in the current crisis,” Carson stated.
Secretary Carson explained that in this case, more money isn’t going to get the job done. They’ve already confiscated way too much and have done nothing with it. They simply ignore the laws they already have on the books that should have been enforced all along.
California state officials have filed dozens of lawsuits over Trump’s actions. The two sides just went to war over who should control their emissions standards. It’s about time they got a taste of their own medicine.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, a Democrat, put a video up on Facebook. It was supposedly showing a newly created shelter to say they’re working on the cleanup. This week Governor Gavin Newsom said he was putting $1.75 billion into creating new housing. The homeless population grew by 16% just this past year according to the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority (LAHSA).
“It’s no secret that I have disagreed with you on almost everything Mr. President, but if you are in your heart willing to save lives alongside us, we know what works here,” Garcetti said in the video. Since they know what works, why haven’t they been able to evict the rats from the Los Angeles Police station on Skid Row? Why is California infested with medieval diseases like bubonic plague and leprosy?
An estimated 130,000 people are homeless on any given day in California. This is more than any other state. Los Angeles has a 4% vacancy rate, one of the lowest in the nation according to the US Census and it’s a contributing factor. Los Angeles County officials will give police more power to deal with homeless compounds.
Once the EPA starts hitting major California cities with fines that continue daily until the deficiencies are corrected ought to build a fire under them and possibly even get them to reevaluate their priorities.
