Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, otherwise known as El Chapo, is once again behind bars. He also had his assets seized. Ted Cruz sees this as a perfect opportunity to remind everyone that the drug lord’s ill gotten gains could be used to build the border wall America needs so badly. Liquidate his assets to the tune of $12.6 billion and put the drug money to good use.
Tracking down all Guzmán Loera’s hidden assets won’t be easy but it is worth the time of the Department of Justice to do it.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz introduced the El Chapo act in 2017, knowing this was going to happen. It didn’t make it very far, even though many saw the poetic justice in diverting money made entirely from drug trafficking to building the wall that would deter future smuggling.
In the drug trade, people on both sides get killed. Dealers die in the course of doing business and the drugs kill off their customers. That makes it even more of a “win-win” to have his assets seized, liquidated and put toward keeping further activity out.
It doesn’t help that El Chapo had the previous administration in the palm of his hand. Barack Obama and Eric Holder supplied him with weapons. Was Obama afraid of him so he gave El Chapo what he wanted? Or maybe Obama did it deliberately, just another tool to undermine the U.S. he hated. More and more Americans are pondering those mysteries.
Senator Chuck Schumer doesn’t want any walls. His logical position doesn’t make sense. If the United States ends up ultimately taken down, as feared, the Senator would surely barricade himself in somewhere safe. By his logic, he would be in a jail of his own making.
There’s a ton of proof that walls work. It keeps the vast majority of illegals and any accompanying drug and human trafficking down.
No parent should have to bury their offspring. Too many parents have lost their children, either young or old, to illegals who don’t seem to have a soul. Maybe Kate Steinle or Mollie Tibbetts can rest easy, knowing another death was prevented.
