Everyone deserves equal time, right? Wrong! For liberals, the only free speech that matters is theirs. “It’s great to be straight” was the motto of Super Happy Fun America’s parade and rally in Boston, inspired by identity politics. Left-leaning protesters did their best to make it all about themselves instead.
Mark Sahady, vice president of the organizing group, said, “I am here to say, ‘I am straight, hear me roar!’ Whether you are straight and part of the oppressed majority, or here as an ally supporting us, we welcome you to the greatest parade in the history of the world!” Many marchers wore Trump related gear, held American and Israeli flags while Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless America” rocked from the loudspeakers.
Over 1,000 counter protesters clearly outnumbered them, turning the event into a demonstration. There was fencing and police were pulled in from other areas. Security was so tight that at one point, marchers had trouble making their way inside the plaza outside City Hall for the post-parade speeches.
The barricades were opened only for a few seconds to let in attendees so those who weren’t hurrying into the venue missed their chance. The official event cameraman was locked out for almost an hour, circling the building until he found out what happened and was finally allowed entry. It took some convincing and credentials to get in, so casual attendants with a right to be there could have been turned away in the confusion.
Counter protesters were notably ugly, while the straights just took it all in stride, enduring a constant barrage of swearing, middle fingers and yells of “Nazi scum.” One man was insistent that the straights just shut up and go home. “Boston doesn’t want you!” he yelled. “We outnumber you!”
Just because the liberals outnumbered the straights didn’t mean straights would automatically bow down to them. Liberals actually brought this on themselves, constantly being in people’s faces and insisting on special rights. Their childishly one sided viewpoint was on full display. They were going to be the center of attention, one way or the other.
The protesters were much more aggressive than the conservatives, and angry that another opinion would dare to presented at all. Police had to pepper spray some of them.
John Hugo, president of Super Happy Fun America, thought the parade went well. “Better than we thought. “We love being straight,” Hugo said. “We love being procreators and having relationships between men and women. We think it’s natural and it’s wonderful. We’re supporters and it’s our sexual orientation. That’s all. Nothing complicated.”
What a way to infuriate liberals! Be straight, be happy and unafraid to say so! A marcher who flew in from out of state said “I’m here to take a stand. I love Jesus and I love Godly values,” said Teresa Richenberger, of Kilgore, Texas. Liberal school policies have affected her. Her school asked her to “pick the identity” of her four year old son.
“We’re standing up today because we’ve been told to, ‘Sit down, to suck it up, be quiet. You can’t offend nobody,'” she said. “I don’t want to offend no one. If you’re gay, go be gay. That’s OK. But I’m straight and I have a right to teach my son to be straight and to marry a woman when he gets older.”
