Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News empire was built on the slogan “fair and balanced.” When the network appeared on the scene in 1996, conservative viewers took the phrase as a promise that Fox would counteract the obvious liberal bias spewed by other networks. It led to instant network domination. Under the control of progressive James Murdoch, the bias has been creeping further and further left. Now they use “Most Watched, Most Trusted,” and viewers aren’t nearly as confidant. “Most watched” may be true for now, but “most trusted” remains to be seen.
President Donald Trump has been noticing the change lately and he isn’t happy. He’s been calling them out about some of his concerns for months. Most recently, he griped to reporters about a poll that Fox News put out on Sunday. “I don’t know what’s happening with Fox,” he said. “Fox is different, there’s no question about it.”
President Trump was upset because not only did the poll show his approval rate had slipped by three points, to 43 percent, “more respondents said Trump is ‘tearing the country apart’ than did in previous years.'” According to Fox, “59 percent said he is divisive while 31 percent said he is ‘drawing the country together.'”
Trump is still behind conservative Fox personalities like Sean Hannity but more and more often lately, he’s been disappointed. On June 17, the president posted, “Something weird going on at Fox.” In July, he was stunned to learn they actually hired Donna Brazile as a political commentator. She was the head of the Democratic National Committee after Debbie Wasserman Schultz left her holding the bag. “@FoxNews is changing fast, but they forgot the people who got them there!” The good news is that Lachlan Murdoch has recently stepped back into the business end of things and has been taking a much more active role since March of this year.
88-year-old Rupert retired a few years ago and left his three children to fight it out for control. Conservative Lachlan Murdoch seemed to be preoccupied with his own interests, so left his siblings to run the family empire and set policy.
Sister Elisabeth tried to hold the reins for a while, but older brother James Murdoch soon was in command, with his wife’s help. A big fan of social justice, James Murdoch was one of the biggest contributing factors in Bill O’Reilly’s purge from the airwaves. The day O’Reilly was fired, James delivered a speech at a National Geographic event, calling himself someone who cares a lot about “issues related to the environment, conservation, exploration, and education.”
His wife Kathryn is described as “a driving force behind his climate change obsession.” She is associated with the Environmental Defense Fund as a trustee and worked for Clinton Climate Initiative.
Impossible to believe that @FoxNews has hired @donnabrazile, the person fired by @CNN (after they tried to hide the bad facts, & failed) for giving Crooked Hillary Clinton the questions to a debate, something unimaginable. Now she is all over Fox, including Shep Smith, by far….

With James at the helm, Fox introduced more employee benefits including “expanded coverage for our transgender colleagues.” They fired Rupert’s chief lobbyist and replaced him with a Democrat.

Since late last year, Lachlan has been taking on more and more corporate responsibility. He brokered a deal to merge with Disney. In March of this year, he held a town hall to celebrate the official closing of the 21st Century Fox-Disney merger. Bearing the title Fox Corp. chairman and CEO, Murdoch told the employees, “You’re all owners. Each and every one of you has a voice and we want it to be heard.”
Conservatives have been waiting a long time for Lachlan to take charge. Hopefully, he’ll be able to steer Fox back onto the path of true conservative news, and maybe even restore the “fair and balanced” coverage.
