In a recent interview with the Guardian, Megan Rapinoe admitted that her father is a conservative, and it bothers her.
“I’m very similar to how they are, even though I think my dad voted for Trump and I’ll say, I don’t get it. How are you simultaneously as proud as punch of me, and watching Fox News all the time?… You guys need to go to therapy.”
She’s convinced that mom is a Democrat but she’s in the closet. “Both of my parents should be really progressive–especially my mom–and I don’t get that they’re not. So what’s happening?”
When Megan and her sister Rachel both came out as lesbians, her mother wasn’t very happy to tell her friends about it. “At one point, my mom was telling all her work friends: ‘Oh, my daughters’ – because my sister is gay, too – ‘Oh, the twins are gay, blah blah blah.'” Megan explains that “her parents were worried she was making life harder for herself.” Megan’s brother Brian is described by Boston news as “a former member of a white supremacist group who is incarcerated and in a re-entry program in California.”
Rapinoe thinks that because she’s exceptionally good at playing soccer, that her opinions should matter more than everyone else’s. Of course, having millions of screaming fans hanging on her every word is sure to validate that misconception.
Nobody really cares who she sleeps with, but she makes it a point to tell the world how proud she is to be a lesbian. When Colin Kaepernick started to kneel during national anthem renditions, Rapinoe suddenly felt an attack of white guilt and joined him in support.
Despite the fact that Rapinoe isn’t just a player, but a co-captain of the official U.S. women’s soccer team, it seems a lot like biting the hand that feeds her. Rapinoe earns around $168,000 a year to wear a team USA jersey even though she hates the United States and everything about it. She has been blatantly unpatriotic in many ways that seem coldly calculated just to raise awareness of her “brand.”
“I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart. I’ll probably never sing the national anthem again. I’m a walking protest when it comes to the Trump administration, because of everything I stand for,” she’s quoted as saying.
Before the team even won the championship, she refused to accept an invitation to the White House she hadn’t yet earned. “Because I’m as talented as I am, I get to be here, you don’t get to tell me if I can be here or not. So it’s kind of a good ‘F you’ to any sort of inequality or bad sentiments that the [Trump] administration might have towards people who don’t look exactly like him.”

President Donald Trump Tweeted back, “Megan should never disrespect our country, the White House, or our flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”
….invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!
