Lawmakers in the province of Ontario, Canada have introduced a bill that would “criminalize” Christian speech.
As reported by Conservative Christian writer Geri Ungurean, the “Prohibiting Hate Promoting Demonstrations at Queen’s Park Act, 2019,” provides for a ban on “any demonstration, rally or other activity that is deemed hateful by the Speaker from being permissible on legislative grounds.”
The “Speaker” they refer to is one of their government officials, Speaker of the House of Commons, so for all practical purposes this amounts to “effectively insulating the government from Christian speech.”
“The problem with this bill, however, lies in the fact that the definition of ‘hate’ is uncertain under Canadian law.”
As further clarified by Life Site News, “The problem with this bill, however, lies in the fact that the definition of ‘hate’ is uncertain under Canadian law.”
That means that any opposing view can easily be labeled “hate.”
They go on to explain that there is a very good reason to reach that conclusion, because it has already happened.
Canadian case law is interpreted to conclude that it is the “effects” of a particular statement, rather than the “intent” of the speaker that decides the matter.
Just because something is true does not mean it isn’t hate under this interpretation. In one case on the subject, the court ruled:
“truthful statements and sincerely held beliefs do not affect the finding of ‘hate.’ Mr. Whatcott merely expressed in his pamphlet the well-established facts about homosexuality which the court held to be ‘hateful.'”
Canada’s Supreme Court has a liberal “progressive” majority and most American Christians are well aware of rainbow-sock-wearing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s progressive proclivities.
Unlike the prior PM, Stephen Harper, who was well known as a Christian. Trudeau goes out of his way to embrace the LGBT agenda and is alleged to be responsible for the way Islam is insinuating itself into Canadian culture.
A perfect example of that is that just last month the Royal Canadian Mint struck a commemorative coin “to celebrate homosexual love as a core principle of Canadian society.”
More and more Canadians every day are becoming fed up with the way globalism and liberalism are taking over their country and urge everyone to protest the passage of this hideous law.
