President Trump is not the only Republican who has slammed the league’s tax break in recent weeks.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. said, “In America, if you want to play sports you’re free to do so. If you want to protest, you’re free to do so. But you should do so on your own dime.”

The NFL’s tax status has been contentious for years now. In 2015 the league announced it would voluntarily lose its tax-exempt status, but the league still benefits from a variety of tax breaks.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, “I know this, we cannot…in the NFL in any way give the implication that we tolerate disrespecting the flag. We know that there is a serious debate in this country about those issues, but there is no question in my mind that the National Football League and the Dallas Cowboys are going to stand up for the flag. So we’re clear.”

Jemele Hill, host of “SC6,” called the president a “white supremacist” on Twitter last month, and has called for a boycott of Dallas Cowboys advertisers.

Hill was suspended for 2 weeks from ESPN for her comment.
