by Daveda Gruber:

I knew it would happen. I predicted it. Andrew McCabe is the first to fall.

President Trump declared that multiple federal reports show “corruption at the highest level,” as he referred to Andrew McCabe a ‘choirboy’.

Trump tweeted:

McCabe was fired just before his birthday and before he would have been eligible for a lifetime pension.

He lied to investigators reviewing the bureau’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s email server. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the reports concluded that McCabe made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor; including under oath on multiple occasions. He added that McCabe was fired after a “fair and extensive” investigation.

Trump has been disputed with FBI leadership since taking office. He suggested top bureau officials are undermining him and his administration. He is presumably disturbed with the investigation into whether his 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russia.

An Obama administration CIA director John Brennan tweeted:

McCabe served as the FBI’s acting director after Trump fired James Comey in May 2017. He said, his dismissal is “part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement and intelligence professionals more generally.”

McCabe said in a statement, “It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel (Russia collusion) investigation,” For the last year and a half, my family and I have been the targets of an unrelenting assault on our reputation and my service to this country.

He also said, “The President’s tweets have amplified and exacerbated it all. He called for my firing. He called for me to be stripped of my pension after more than 20 years of service.”

McCabe left the bureau Aug. 2, 2017. This was during the early months of the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and potential collusion with Trump campaign associates.

McCabe has been criticized by Republicans for his ties to the Democratic Party. ” McCabe did not recuse himself from the probe until a week before the election. Michael Horowitz reviewing whether McCabe should have recused himself earlier because of his family’s ties to the Democratic Party.”

McCabe’s wife received donations from the super PAC of Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, a close Clinton ally who ran as a Democrat for a Virginia state Senate seat in 2015.

There is much more information there to tell you how this all came about and I did predict McCabe would be fired.
