Neil Gorsuch has been confirmed to the Supreme Court on Friday by the Senate.
Gorsuch was President Donald Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.
The vote was 54-45. Republicans used the Nuclear Option.
The three Democrats who voted for Gorsuch were North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, West Virginia’s Joe Manchin and Indiana’s Joe Donnelly. All are moderate Democrats who are facing challenging reelection bids next year in red states.
Justice Gorsuch is likely to be sworn in on Monday. Once sworn in, Gorsuch will join the court and begin to hear cases. He will hold the seat once held by the late Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February 2016.
