Detailed blueprints have been recovered from the Los Angeles home of Hugh Heffner, that show a system of underground tunnels constructed beneath the estate. Heffner passed away this year at age 91 from natural causes.
For 40 years, Hugh Heffner occupied the infamous mansion, where Playboy bunnies frolicked and the ultra rich partied. The estate actually exchanged ownership in 2016 and sold for $100 million dollars. The original asking price was double that. A stipulation added to the sale was that Heffner could remain living in the home until he passed. He was to pay $1 million per year in rent.
Heffner’s 31 year old wife, Crystal Harris, received nothing from his estate, thanks to an iron clad prenuptial agreement. His four children were on the receiving end of his massive holdings, estimated at $50 million.
The Beverly Hills Estate has long been looked at as a party house where only elites were welcome to play. The lavish 20,000 square foot mansion sits on 6 acres and was originally purchased by Heffner for a mere $1.05 million. The home itself has 29 rooms, including a catering kitchen, wine cellar, and home theater. Outdoors is a separate game house, gym, tennis court, swimming pool, waterfalls, and of course the picturesque and famous, cave-like grotto. The home also features a built in pipe organ and the master suite occupies 2 stories.
A secret side to the tycoon’s estate has recently been revealed. Blueprints have been found that paint a dark picture to what might have gone on during the early days of Heffner’s rise to fame and fortune. A system of tunnels leading from the mansion appear to connect several adjoining parcels, homes belonging to well known Hollywood elites. The blueprints mention the names of “Mr J Nicholson”, “Mr W Beatty”, “Mr K Douglas” and “Mr J Caan”. Most believe the first names to be “Jack”, “Warren”, “Kirk” and “James” respectively.
What in the world would Heffner need tunnels for, especially those leading to neighboring homes when those residents were invited regularly to his estate? Did Hugh make his millions from some nefarious activity that we are unaware of?
With all the recent accusations of sex abuse and pedophilia in Hollywood and Washington D.C., it is anyone’s guess as to what Hugh Heffner was using the tunnels for. Was he trafficking children and adults and delivering them to wealthy Hollywood elites for their sexual pleasure? We can only speculate at this point. If the tunnels were for the bunnies, why wouldn’t they just get in a car and drive over to the neighboring homes? After all they weren’t that far away.
Some claim the tunnels were closed up after Heffner married Crystal Harris. Was she aware of the passageways and didn’t like the activity they lead to? There again, that is only speculation. We may never know what the tunnels were intended for, as these types of stories and scandals always seem to get locked away in the mental libraries of the players, with the key forever hidden. Who knows, maybe 50 years from now the truth will surface after the tunnels are dug up, leaving children of today wondering who the heck Hugh Heffner even was.
