by Brett Gasper:

Being wary of getting into an overgeneralization or false dichotomy, ostensibly, each statement made by the news is either “fake news” or it is not. What are the other possibilities? and when did the news become fake?

News should first be believable and rooted in some facts. Occasionally, Fox News does get it wrong and occasionally MSNBC does get it right. We all have heard the term “Fake News“. This moniker is used to stigmatize yellow journalists who engage in sensationalism (rather than substance) and ply logical fallacies in their reporting.

The Tactic of Fake News is 3,100 Year-old War Stratagem.

The tactic of Fake News goes back 3,100 years to the end of the Shang Dynasty – when the Father of Chinese Civil Society, Jiang Ziya (nominally, Tiagong or Grand Duke) devised his “Six Secret Teachings“.

Ziya’s Civil Society model held that a nation must thrive morally and economically as a platform for warfare and thereby survival.

Ziya’s War Strategy was an extension of his Civil Society model – but he would use “fake news” as a form of psychological subterfuge undermining the enemy’s moral and economic platform to survive. Recruiting from the enemy’s disaffected (whether real or perceived) Ziya was able to topple a 400 year old Shang Dynasty.

“Attracting the disaffected weakens the enemy and strengthens the state; employing subterfuge and psychological techniques allows manipulation of the enemy and hastens its demise. The ruler must visibly cultivate his Virtue (德) and embrace government policies that will allow the state to compete for the minds and hearts of the people; the state will thus gain victory without engaging in battle.”
~ Jiang Ziya

Modern Development of Fake News in the 20th Century

Fast forward to the Weimar Republic in 1920 Germany: First World War Veterans or Freikorps were hired mercenaries, of the Social Democratic German Party, to fight the United Front of Soviet backed Communists in the Spartacus Front, the Communist Party and the Antifaschistische AKtion. The Communist leaders were predominantly Jewish and doubly hated by the rising Nazis.

Sensing the writing on the wall, many of the Communist intellectuals, dismayed by the Socialist experiment in Russia, began a revisionist movement that immigrated to the United States. After the war, Europe and Asia were in ashes. The United States, being the only relatively unscathed industrial power, began rebuilding through the Marshall Plan.

Herbert Marcuse, a German immigrant of the Marxist Frankfurt School, worked for the U.S. Office of War Information (OWI) on anti-Nazi propaganda projects. In 1943, he transferred to the Research and Analysis Branch of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the precursor to the Central Intelligence Agency.

After retirement, Marcuse taught at Columbia, Harvard, Brandeis Universities and the University of California at San Diego. It was at Brandeis that he wrote the “One-Dimensional Man: Studies in the Ideology of Advanced Industrial Society“.

One Dimensional Man outlines a method of historical revisionism to highlight “social injustices” to foster a culture of guilt and grievance across every dichotomy of society: rich and poor, man and woman, white and black, old and young, straight and gay, respectively, in a doctrine called “Critical Theory“.

Dialectical thinking, demands freedom from the oppressive and ideological power of given facts”
~ Herbert Marcuse

In the 1960’s, Herbert Marcuse gave birth to the New Left on America’s college campuses. Many of his adherents were red diaper babieswhose parents were taking orders from Moscow. With this new philosophy, Marxists were able to recruit disaffected non-Marxists under the banner of “Free Speech” or “Anti-War” or “Anti-Racism” or “Feminism“. Not that the organizers at Madison’s University of Wisconsin were anti-war (any more than Iraq war protests were anti-war) but they had a vested moral interest to force an American defeat by their Socialist allies in Vietnam (or Iraq).

Give the Gift of TRUMP

Today, the New Left dominates the Democratic Party:

Not only does the Marxist Critical Theory dominate politics and the Deep State (95%) but it dominates Academia (91.3%) and News Agencies (93%) as well… all under the banner of “Social Justice” that Republicans largely achieved in 1964 with the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

So, how did the Party of Lincoln, Emancipation, Woman Suffrage, Anti Lynching Child Labor, Clean Food and Drug, Desegregation, Clean Air and Civil Rights become the Civil Rights pariah? We must look back to a 1970 New York Times interview with Kevin Phillips: an ethnologist for the Nixon campaign – who wove a story of a “Southern Strategy“. After the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965, Democrats were desperate to divorce themselves of their past Slavery, Lynching, Ku Klux Klan, Segregation and White Citizen Councils. the Southern Manifesto and resistance to the Civil Rights Act.. But as any confidence man will tell you, the first rule of running the scam is “tell them what they want to hear”.

Social Justice” appeals to one’s sense of self righteousness – even though we no longer live in a day when identity politics denied equal protection of the law: specifically, the 5th Amendment rights of life, liberty and property. American Democratic Socialism is really Stalin/Mao styled Communism – in that it demands control of the means of production and control of social life (Speech, Assembly, Press, Education, Media, Social Media, even Definitions in the Language) and they will use violence to maintain that control.

“…the objective of tolerance would call for intolerance toward prevailing policies, attitudes, opinions, and the extension of tolerance to policies, attitudes, and opinions which are outlawed or suppressed.”
~ Herbert Marcuse: Repressive Tolerance (1964)

The problem with controlling the means of production is that control is taken from the ingenious and industrious and given to incompetent and politically connected party bosses – this always results in decay of infrastructure and shortages (even famine)

The problem with control of social life is that it gives way to a cult of personality – A cult of personality arises when a regime uses mass media, propaganda, or other methods such as government-organized demonstrations to create an idealized, heroic, and at times worshipful image of a leader, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.
