When ex-Director of the FBI testified before the Intelligence Committee, it proved to be not was initially planned.
His testimony, for one thing, made Comey look rather bad and it cleared President Trump.
Comey admitted under oath that the president was not under any investigation.
Comey, the nation’s top intelligence official, admitted he leaked privileged documents to a friend to give to reporters.
These were memos that he had written in the course of his official government duties about privileged conversations with President Trump.
So, now James Comey has admitted under oath to being the leaker-in-chief, leaking information in order to damage the President and the Trump Administration.
His reason, Comey testified, that he did so to manipulate the situation and force the appointment of a ‘Special Counsel’.
President Trump’s attorney, Marc Kasowitz, held a news conference that put it all in a nutshell.
President Trump won this battle and Comey is now in a position to face legal questions. It is a federal crime to, without authority, pass on a record of the United States (an FBI record) to a friend and in this manner, leak the information, in this case to the press, after being fired.
Chalk this one up for Trump.
