Note: This going to be Part 1 of My “CA 2018 Candidates” series
Before I start this review on Don Adams I need to make a disclaimer first Adams contacted me last month after reading one of my articles.
Now, let me make a follow-up disclaimer right now. I’m not comfortable with endorsing anyone as we have yet to ‘officially’ began the 2018 midterm and gubernatorial elections yet.
In this ‘short’ I am going to be looking at Don Adam’s policies and let you make up your mind.
Don Adams describes himself as a principled conservative who will work with both parties in Congress on behalf of all Californians.
He seems to be running on the Trump #MAGA Agenda.
On his website Adams For Senate he describes more of his policies and what his slogan “Leading California Home” means.
“Leading California Home” has the same unequivocal solution as does “Make America Great Again.” The answer is somewhat simplistic and has absolutely nothing to do with race, creed, or religion.
The essential requirement is Unity, which brings people together regardless of ethnic or cultural backgrounds. Unity brought America together on Sept. 11, 2001, and previously in WW II after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Without a sense of purpose, pride, and patriotism, freedom cannot thrive and grow.
Unity doesn’t involve political parties, one’s financial class, religious beliefs, gender or regional geography, or whether one is working class or a college-educated professional. Unity doesn’t recognize fame or class of citizenship.
Unity involves the heart and that is what matters Curing what is in the heart is the only way to bring Californians together as one for a common cause and purpose.
Uniting on issues which affect the safety of all citizens of California such as increased border security can help remove the criminal element that threatens each and every one of us. No one should die due to someone living here illegally, be hurt financially by a plethora of lesser crimes committed by non-Americans, carry an unbearable tax burden to finance unnecessary programs, or be subject to the tragedy of drug addiction and the loss of a loved one because of an open border through which drugs are smuggled.
Adams wants lower taxes for both federal and state.
He wrote lowering Taxes, both Federal and State will bring more industry back into California creating jobs and lowering the high unemployment rate. When taxes are lower, it is a two-fold win for our beloved State, as it creates more revenue through increased spending and ultimately more tourism. If people are working and able to not only provide for their families but enjoy some of life’s extras because they have more disposable income, fewer people will leave the State. As a result, more homes are bought and businesses grow..everyone benefits!
He went on to state that a healthier economy flourishes when people are working and industry is in growth mode. If we want our Real Estate industry to grow, we need people to stay in California by finding good-paying jobs. We also need to make it easier for new home buyers to purchase homes. Home ownership happens when taxes decrease rather than increase.
He wrote as your Senator, I intend to work as closely as possible with our Governor to make sure that people of California benefit from everything I do while serving in Congress.
He summed every that the end by writing with your united support, together we can lead California back home. With shared goals and a common vision, we can renew friendships, provide a better future four children and once again feel pride in being part of the greatest nation on Earth. We do not need another national tragedy to bring us together. We simply need to define common goals that will benefit all Californians. With this purpose and vision, we can become a strong and formidable unit able to overcome all obstacles, and ultimately together, we will “Lead California Home”.
Now let’s look at his platform
We Need The Wall:
We need the Wall, to keep our citizens safe and help keep out of the undesirable illegal alien element. A Nation Without borders is a not a nation.
A temporary ban on Muslims from entering the United States from certain countries that pose a threat to us with terrorism. I feel we should provide a safe space for Muslims in their own country and only allow them to enter ours upon an oath of allegiance as did the immigrants in the early 1900’s.
Bring back manufacturing and jobs to stimulate a better healthier economy that will allow people to not only care for their families but have extra money to enjoy a better quality of life. Also the extra financial ability to give their children a better education.
Impose tariffs on goods made in China and Mexico which will help to offset the unfair international trade practice. This tax would also help to decrease the budget deficit and some of it could be used to increase border patrol.
A temporary ban on refugees from entering the United States from certain countries is absolutely necessary for the protection of American citizens. Without an adequate method to conduct extreme vetting, these refugees pose a serious threat to citizens since we have already been warned by several national security heads that ISIS intends to send terrorists within these groups.
Ideally, we should provide a safe space for these Muslims in their own country or nearby regions and only allow them to enter America upon taking an oath of allegiance as did previous immigrants in the early 1900s.
On The Economy:
Creating a vital economy is critical for America’s long-term success. Bringing back manufacturing jobs will stimulate a healthier economy that will enable people to adequately provide for their families.
Imposing tariffs on goods made in China and Mexico will help offset unfair international trade practices that kill jobs and crushes the economy.
The deficit doubled in just 8 years during Obama’s administration, and ultimately, must be paid off or we will be crushed by unwise financial decisions of previous administrations. NAFTA must be renegotiated to be fair to America as well. Without sane fiscal policies, the country will be reduced to third world status and the American dream destroyed forever.
Obamacare requires a full repeal because the law is almost 3,000 pages long and impossible to fix. We need to replace this disaster with a more affordable market-based alternative.
Congress needs to examine incentives for business to provide health insurance for employees, allow individuals to join together in groups for better rates, and to open the market across state lines so that consumers are able to get the best deal. Individual states should have the right to require individuals using welfare programs to participate in either a work or training program to qualify for benefits and healthcare providers should be offered tax incentives to lower costs.
The billions of dollars stolen from Medicare system to support Obamacare must be returned to support increased Medicare benefits because the vast majority of seniors contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars into the system with a guarantee of healthcare from the age of 65 and up.
I also support the President’s goal of negotiating pharmaceutical companies who have enjoyed record-breaking profits for years to bring down the cost of medications. A Market-based approach is always the best solution for creating products and services need at the lowest possible cost.
Don Adams supports a Fair Tax.
Here’s his proposal for a Fair Tax:
The current federal income tax system is clearly broken – unfair, overly complex, and almost impossible for most Americans to understand. But there is a reasonable, nonpartisan alternative before Congress that is both fair and easy to understand a system that allows you to keep your whole paycheck and only pay taxes on what you spend.
The FairTax is a national sales tax that treats every person equally and allows American business to thrive while generating the same tax revenue as the current four-million-world-plus tax code. Under the FairTax, every person living in the United States pays a sales tax on purchases of new goods and services, excluding necessities due to the prebate. The FairTax rate after necessities is 23% compared to combining 15% income tax bracket with the 7.65% of employee payroll taxes under the current system – both of which will be eliminated!
Important to note: The FairTax is the only tax plan currently being proposed that includes the removal of the payroll tax.
Keep Your Paycheck
For the first time in recent history, Americans workers will get to keep every dime they earn; including what would have been paid in federal income taxes and payroll taxes. You will get an instant raise in your pay!.
Social Security & Medicare Funding
Benefits will not change. The FairTax actually puts these programs on a more solid funding foundation. Instead of being funded by taxes on workers’ wages, which is a small pool, they’ll be funded by taxes on overall consumption by all residents.
Get A Tax Refund In Advance On Purchase Of Basic Necessities
The FairTax provides a progressive program called a prebate. This gives every legal resident household an “advance refund” at the beginning of each month so that purchases made up to the poverty level are tax-free. The prebate prevents an unfair burden on low-income families.
Pay Tax On Only What You Spend
Be in control of your financial destiny. You alone can control your tax burden. If you’re thrifty, you’ll lower taxes than somebody who is not. Most importantly, you’ll be taxed fairly.
Everyone Pays Their Fair Share
Tax evasion and the underground economy cost each taxpayer an additional $2,500 every year! But by taxing new products and services consumed, the Fair Tax puts everyone in the country at the same level as the cash register. Further, only legal residents are eligible for the prebate.
Now here’s my opinion on Don Adams I agree with him on almost everything, and would definitely vote for him. However, that is just my opinion. Please let me know what you think of Don Adams.
