On Sunday Republican leaders showed discord towards Democrats. Reports had come out that Around thirty Democratic members of Congress traveled to Puerto Rico this weekend to meet with lobbyists. They also planned to see a special performance of the hit Broadway show “Hamilton.”
The Dems are scheduled to see the show Sunday and return home at 4:45 p.m. Monday.
The Democrats made plans on attending the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC gathering in San Juan. They met with Puerto Rican officials to discuss ongoing cleanup efforts from Hurricane Maria.
Republicans were not pleased. Sarah Sanders took to Twitter and tweeted:
Democrats in Congress are so alarmed about federal workers not getting paid they’re partying on the beach instead of negotiating a compromise to reopen the government and secure the borderhttps://t.co/zpJypJ2Slq

GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel was quick to join in and tweeted:

Over one hundred and corporate executives are named in a memo welcoming the guests to the seaside resort.
Some of the attendees were:
Representatives from R.J. Reynolds
Unions such as the National Education Association
A planning memo said, “This year’s winter retreat promises to be our most widely attended yet with over 220 guests, including 39 Members of Congress and CHC BOLD PAC supporters expected to attend and participate!”
A spokesman for the BOLD PAC, which is part of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, would not divulge which members of Congress would be attending but over 30 Democrat lawmakers took a chartered flight to Puerto Rico to “party hard.”
FOX News reported that U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., was spotted on the beach Saturday.

So, it seems that the Democrats vacationed while the government is going through a partial government shutdown.
About 800,000 federal workers are left without pay since the shutdown commenced on Dec. 22nd. It is now the longest government shutdown is history.
The son of President Trump, Donald Trump Jr. got himself involved in the Twitter news by tweeting:
And of course no one says anything. I’m not even in government and I’d get killed in the press if I was on vacation right now. Why won’t they cover their democrat buddies lobbyist sponsored vacation in the islands??? https://t.co/EC63O8WiYy

Trump is standing firm on his decision to not sign anything that does not fund a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Democrats, on the other hand, have refused to grant Trump his request.
Trump is still in the White House and he Tweeted:
We have a massive Humanitarian Crisis at our Southern Border. We will be out for a long time unless the Democrats come back from their “vacations” and get back to work. I am in the White House ready to sign!

Most Republicans have stood by the president while others have expressed uneasiness with this strategy.
I wish all Republicans would stand behind the president and not cave in.
