Social Media Ablaze: She Knew!

by Daveda Gruber:

Twitter is ablaze with Meryl Streep and so is Hollywood but not in a good way. A street artist is telling Streep what his opinion of her knowledge of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual activities were.

On Tuesday posters started appearing in Los Angeles and they tell a story. A photograph of Streep next to Harvey Weinstein with a red banner and the words “She Knew,” placed across the actress’ eyes are being shown on Twitter.

The artist has not been identified but several photos of the posters plastered in various spots, including outside of Streep’s home and the SAG-AFTRA building, emerged on social media.

The posters are in contradiction of those of the Hollywood star who insists she didn’t know about the fallen movie mogul’s alleged sexual misconduct.

Steep had released a statement the day before the posters popped up saying she “did not know about Weinstein’s crimes” in the decades she has known the producer.

Streep said in a statement, “I wasn’t deliberately silent. I didn’t know. I don’t tacitly approve of rape. I didn’t know. I don’t like young women being assaulted. I didn’t know this was happening.”

The 68-year-old actress’ statement was made in reply to Rose McGowan’s criticism of Streep and other women who would be wearing black to the upcoming Golden Globes as a silent protest against sexual misconduct in the industry.

I guess it is hypocritical of Meryl Streep to wear black after this.
