Hafiz Saeed, a designated terrorist leader, has confirmed that his organization Jamaat-ud-Dawah will contest the 2018 general elections in Pakistan under the banner of the Milli Muslim league, which is yet to be registered with the election commission. He said, “The MML is planning to contest next year’s general election.” A report said, Saeed who has been designated as terrorist by both United Nations and the United states walked free in November after months of house arrest in Pakistan.
The MML had contested a by poll in September for a National Assembly seat that was vacant following disqualification of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Sheikh Yaqub, MML candidate contested the September poll and won 6000 votes. Saeed also said that his detention in Pakistan and arrest of Hurriyat leaders in India was part of International agenda.
Meanwhile,a senior Trump administration official has said that U.S. is not satisfied with Pakistan’s cooperation in the war against terror as it has not done anything significant and he also termed the release of Saeed as a “step backward” in that direction.
It is clear evident these militant groups are now trying to develop a base again in Pakistan as Pakistan’s government is mere observant to terror groups and doing nothing against them.If the Pakistan government does not take any action against these terrorist groups now, then they will be a really big threat to any nation in the future.
